Covers are essential to quality cookware, as they not only help pots and pans cook more efficiently, but they seal in nutrients and flavors to improve the finished product. This cast-iron lid from Lodge is particularly adept at fitting snugly, as it includes self-basting spikes to hold it in place. The cover fits the Lodge Logic 10-1/4-inch skillet, 3-quart chicken fryer, and 5-quart Dutch oven. Like all Lodge Logic cookware, the cover comes preseasoned and is ready to use right out of the box. However, it still works best when sprayed or lightly coated with vegetable oil before and sometimes after use. Because iron can rust, you should not immerse the cover in water for long periods, and it should stay out of the dishwasher. The cover will last for generations if properly maintained, as will all of Lodge's cast-iron cookware.
